And I say like nothing on earth because hummus brings to me that earthy taste and experience - and we all need a little bit of that every now and again.
I also come from an arab family on my mom's side, so my grandma used to do hummus and babaganoush together with grape leaves filled for special occasions and would always make me a special vegetarian batch (and some extra to take home with me)
You'll see I have lot of "grandma's recipes" in my blog, although I have adapted them to my clean, whole food lifestyle.
This hummus is really simple and you can make it for a dip or as a special plate ocasion like my grandma did :)
You will need:
- 1 can organic chickpeas or 1 1/2 cup soaked and cooked organic chickpeas **
- 2 tablespoons of unhulled organic tahini
- juice of 1 lemon
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1/3 olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- Some chopped parsley
- Smoked paprika to toss over
To make this simple recipe:
Just get your soaked chickpeas in a blender and add olive oil, lemon juice, tahini, salt and pepper, garlic and blend it all! Make it as creamy as you like and once ready remove from blender and take to the fridge or have it ready to go. Add some chopped parsley and smoke paprika or cook with olive oil some extra chickpeas until crispy and toss them on top ** (if you do so you will need another half cup or so depending on how big your plate is)
Enjoy!!!
